UCL World Stroke Day Forum 2022

Now in its fifth year, the UCL World Stroke Day Forum aims to empower stroke survivors to influence the future of stroke research at UCL. The forum, sponsored by The National Brain Appeal, encourages an open dialogue between researchers, clinicians, charities, stroke survivors, carers and loved ones.

Science of Aphasia (SoA) Conference - Bordeaux

The Science of Aphasia (SoA) 2022 conference will be held in Bordeaux this September. In the lab, we are looking forward to our two poster presentations, which will be lead by Sebastian Bello Lepe and Fern Rodgers (on behalf of Claudia Bruns). The topic of the conference is “Language and Cognition”.

British Aphasiology Society (BAS) Therapy Symposium

The UTILISE team are looking forward to speaking at this year’s British Aphasiology Society Therapy Symposium next month.

The event will cover a range of topics, from dose frameworks, feasibility trials, tDCS in bilingual aphasia, and mindfulness. Tune in on Friday the 2nd of September at 2pm to hear Fern Rodgers, of the UTILISE team, present the pilot data that informed our ongoing trial and how we have been informed by construction grammar theory.

Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP) Conference

Amongst a line-up of world-class speakers discussing “Adapting for Success”, we are very pleased that our UTILISE collaborator Dr Amir-Homayoun Javadi will be presenting his talk entitled: "From buzzing to talking; Advances in effects of brain stimulation on aphasia".

Dr Javadi will talk about the fascinating world of non-invasive brain stimulation and the ways in which it may be beneficial to those recovering from post-stroke aphasia by encouraging neuroplastic changes to tissue surrounding the stroke site.

Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP) "Therapy Talks" Event

The UTILISE Team are looking forward to presenting our talk, entitled 'What’s new in sentence therapy for aphasia? “I don’t know””, at the ASLTIP “Therapy Talks” event at the end of March.

ASLTIP are a group of independent speech and language therapists who offer support and advice to pracitioners as well as serving as a point of contact for members of the public seeking an independent therapist.

Our team have been invited to explain the sentence processing model and how it informs our therapy program.

World Stroke Day Forum, 29 October

Members of our lab will contribute to a stall in the expo area of the UCL World Stroke Day Forum, taking place on Tuesday 29 October 2019. There is a morning and an afternoon session with open talks and workshops. We will promote our latest research project for which we have launched recruitment.

Science of Aphasia conference

Members of our lab will attend this year’s Science of Aphasia Conference in Rome. Claudia Bruns will present a poster with the title: ‘Using multi-word utterances more flexibly in non-fluent aphasia: Findings from a case series investigation’.

The title of the conference is "The temporal lobe revisited: functional and neural updates"
